Playa Bejuco is a small quiet town in Puntarenas province which has been chosen for many retired people to settle, either permanently as expats/immigrants or as tourists visiting a few times a year for long periods. This gave the town the fame of being a boring-southern Florida-type of place, but there is nothing further from the reality.
Although it is not a bustling village, the minute one gets here you can feel such a laid-back atmosphere that you will fall in love with Bejuco, whether you are travelling with your family or if you are on a romantic getaway. And if you are in a party mood, you can always drive less than half an hour away to Jacó.
In previous posts we had been on and on about how mind-blowing Costa Rica is for foodies: thriving with fresh fruits, vegetables and fish. The Playa Bejuco area is a paradise for conscientious eaters.
At EcoVida we have our own banana trees and organic edible garden, which inspired us to cook this tasty banana bread .This recipe is vegan-friendly, healthy, organic, sugar free, super thrifty and can be easily transformed into gluten-free as well.
Costa Rica is every conscientious eater’s dream; whether you follow a plant based diet (vegan, vegetarian…you name it) or if you are looking for organic products, this country has everything for you.
With a sometimes unreliable or confusing public transport system and expensive car rental rates, moving on your own around Costa Rica can be a challenge at times. But this is not enough reason to discourage you from enjoying the wonders of this country and even less if you are choosing to visit us in laid-back Playa Bejuco.
Here we have put together all the information you need to get to us safe and sound using public transport. We will be eagerly waiting your visit!

We have almost concluded the busiest year to-date here in Playa Bejuco. We have never had as many guests this late into August and never the amount of guests in our vacation rentals as this past high season. Both high season and green season has been amazing (and busy), with a good portion of high season next year already booked up! We look forward to September and October as we prepare the homes for the next big rush, although we certainly still have room for guests during the greenest of green season! If you are planning a trip down to the naturally majestic Costa Rica, book your trip today as our beach is almost fully booked already! We do have a few gaps and a few homes free for parts of February, as shown in the image below. We were pleased to coordinate and raise school supplies for all the children in our local school. Including our own donations and that of others, we put together 60 comprehensive packages for the students and 10 packages for the teachers, both full and part-time. A special thanks to all those who contributed to our "Giving Back" programme through donations of supplies and cash. We even have a little left over for our next event and we are very thankful that our guests, neighbours and friends have been kind enough to help the local Bejuco School. These donations go a long way to help this under-funded school, providing the students the tools they need to start off the school year with some excitement and support from the community. A very special thanks goes to Cheryl, one of our wonderful neighbours in Bejuco and a volunteer at the school, for her efforts throughout the year and in helping to coordinate these packages.
