Bejuco School – Celebration of Annexation of Guanacaste!
July 25th is a national holiday in Costa Rica celebrating the Annexation of Guanacaste. On July 25th, 1824 the area of Nicoya became part of Costa Rica and in 1848 this area became the province of Guanacaste. On this day every year Costa Ricans all over Costa Rica celebrate the customs and culture of this area which include traditional dances and food. Celebrations in Bejuco:
On July 24th the Bejuco School celebrated the Annexation of Guanacaste. A group of students volunteered to dress up in traditional dress of Guanacaste and preform three typical dances from this region. Parents and community members were invited to watch the performance. The kids did great and had a lot of fun.
