The waterfalls that should be on your bucket list when in Costa Rica
Are you a nature and adventure lover? Do you fancy swimming in a crystal-clear pool while fresh water runs from a waterfall above you? Then there is a hidden gem that not even many locals visit and it’s located less than an hour away from us: Nauyaca Waterfalls.
The falls are hidden between the mountains and the Central Pacific and just 20 minutes from Dominical. You will be able to drive your car all the way up and park it 3kms before the waterfalls: then, the fun part starts… An easy and pleasant 45 minute hike along a dirt road will lead you to this magnificent place while enjoying breathtaking views of central Costa Rica, with its lush hills, secondary forest, and wild animals Accompanied by a soundtrack played by the stream of the river Baru, the song of the birds, and one or another mooing cow, you will enjoy this short hike to this amazing spot. ![]() Main waterfall. After paying your entrance fee, you will find yourself in front of a forty-five-meter high waterfall. The companion fall, a twenty-meter high tiered waterfall, will be a few steps downhill creating a natural pool surrounded by a green canyon of plants accustomed to the spray of the imposing waterfall. You will have time to swim and refresh, jump from stones into the water, sunbathe and recharge your batteries with some snacks. You could even spend a few hours relaxing and reading since it is such a peaceful place. ![]() Secondary waterfall and its beautiful natural pool.
